When you write and submit articles to article directories there is a GREAT chance that you will get picked up by publishers who put your article on their websites or in an ezines. This will help you reach a very specific target market. You will be able to reach prospects you might not normally come into contact with. You will benefit from the branding and credibility of the site or ezine that publishes your articles. And, you can experience a dramatic surge of immediate traffic

But, that’s only if you write articles the right way!

Here Are 5 Ways to Make Sure Your Articles Are Ignored by Thousands of Publishers and Readers

1. Writing novels instead of a simple 300-600 word article. Go ahead and write a masterpiece War and Peace length article. The frustrating truth is no matter how wonderful your article is, it will not be published if editors have a 500-word limit. And, if your long articles do get published they will overwhelm your readers. People don’t want to read very long articles. This means they will bypass your article without going to your website.

2. Writing articles that are continuations of other articles. For example: How to Decorate Your Bedroom, Part 1; How to Decorate Your Bedroom, Part 2. This will automatically decrease your chances of getting published by an ezine or website editor.

3. Writing boring titles. Remember, it’s the title that’s going to pull readers in. So you need to make sure that the titles are optimized so the search engines can find your articles. And, at the same time, it needs to reveal why readers should be interested in reading your articles.

4. Forgetting to proofread. It seems like sometimes we are in such a hurry to get our articles submitted that we forget that it may be picked up by a publication that is sent out to 10,000 eagle-eyed ezine subscribers. This will automatically kill your credibility and your chances of getting published.

5. Write to educate, not to advertise. Quality publishers are looking for educational, well-written articles! They will not print self-serving articles. Plain and simple. So, don’t make your article about your own business, website, products or affiliate products – unless you don’t want to get your articles published on thousands of websites, ezines and article directories.

There you go, five ways to make sure that your articles don’t get published.
